Chief Grogan is a 35 year veteran of law enforcement. Chief Grogan began his career with the Marietta Police Department in 1981 and rose through the ranks to Deputy Chief upon his retirement in 2008. Chief Grogan was appointed as the first Dunwoody Police Chief in 2008 and built the department from the ground up to what it is today: a premier agency that has earned State Certification and numerous other accolades. Chief Grogan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Kennesaw State University.
Dunwoody, Georgia Chief of Police, Billy Grogan, has been named the 2016-2017 President of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP). The GACP is an association that has served police chiefs and command staff law enforcement personnel for over 54 years and currently represents over 500 Chiefs of Police and other Law Enforcement Agency Heads across the State of Georgia.
Chief Grogan believes strongly that serving the community is a calling. Giving back and being involved in the community has always been a passion. As a current member of the Rotary Club of Dunwoody, Chief Grogan has volunteered for numerous community projects benefitting various non-profits. In addition, Chief Grogan served as former Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Director for the State of Georgia.
